Deep in Pilat Park
On the southern heights, Pilat Regional Nature Park unfolds forests, granite hamlets and meadows dotted with broom. The Crêt de la Perdrix, highest point at 1,432 metres, is reached on foot from the Col de la République: at the top on clear days, you can make out the Alps and Mont Blanc. A spectacular setting for a walk together and a sunny picnic.
Rochetaillée and the heights
A few kilometres from the centre, the village of Rochetaillée lines its lanes around the ruins of its medieval castle perched on a rocky spur. The panorama embraces the city, the Monts du Lyonnais and sometimes the Alps. Nearby trails, including the classic ridge path, make for an easy forest loop. A short but refreshing outing, ideal for a Sunday afternoon date.
The Loire Gorges
To the west, the Loire Gorges unfold a landscape of hills, hamlets and blue meanders around the Grangent Dam. From Saint-Victor-sur-Loire you can set off by boat or kayak to discover secret islets. A rare waterborne date, nicely extended on a terrace facing the lake. On Lyad, Saint-Étienne members share their favourite hikes; it is up to you to discover one together.
